Love/Hate

Somebody had the genius idea to ask Alexa Chung the top ten things she hates.  I have seen enough of those top 10 things you love lists and think this idea is daring and awesomesauce!

1. I hate that bad reality TV is so incredibly gripping.
2. I hate online bullying. Those little comment boxes can brim with the most vicious, acidic and pointless remarks.
3. That I have a far-from-pretty voice. This, coupled with the fact that karaoke is basically my favorite activity, makes for some very sad evenings.
4. That I can’t seem to work out my shoe size in America. In England, I’m a size 6. (Yes, I’ve tried an 8.)
5. Surprise encounters. I immediately turn red when I bump into someone I wasn’t expecting to see.
6. Meat.
7. A lot of the music that dominates the charts.
8. Bad manners.
9. When people talk about The Wire beyond season one. I haven’t finished it yet!
10. That I’ve already read Lolita for the first time.

Funny enough, I pretty much agree with everything she says, except for #6, I adore meat and all meat products, and I would have to replace "Lolita" with "The Dud Avacado" (#10), and I have seen every season of the Wire (#9).

Ultimate Sadness

So after I went to Target and everything from the Liberty of London collection was sold out, I cried for an hour and then licked my wounds by perusing the Sonia Kashuk makeup collection.  I found a couple of fab new things that I had never seen before, and got another blending sponge for my makeup kit.

Amazing New Product number #1:
New Extra Large blotting papers!  These are great because I always thought blotting papers should be as big as my face, and these come pretty darn close.  Also, they come 100 to a pack, unlike most of the competition, which is usually 50-60 to a pack.  Go get them right now, cuz it's 85 degrees outside!
$6.99

Amazing New Product #2:
Tweezers with a spoolie at the end? WHAT?!?  Yes, it's true. Now you no longer need two implements to tweeze your brows, just this! Genius.
$12.99

I also grabbed another one of these reusable blending sponges.  They work really well and the pointy tip is perfect for blending around the nose and eyes.  And they make foundation appear very natural!

Do you know Peter Philips?

Do you know Peter Philips?  Why, he's the man who has my job!  (As Creative Director for makeup at Chanel).
He is the man responsible for the Jade nail polish that was way sold out and later went for upwards of $200 on Ebay, and he was behind the ah-ma-zing Chanel temporary tattoos, and he is the creator of this look, which I find to be so clever!

Inspired by the accidental/dipped look of the Fall 2010 handbags, Philips recommended applying the eyeshadow wet to intesify the effect, and to use a small brush and a steady hand.  Try it tomorrow and expect weird looks.  Unless you live on a runway. Loves it!

*** Also, I just saw this tidbit about rumors that Karl Lagerfeld will be succeeded by Alber Elbaz at Chanel soon! Scandalous! I actually gasped as I read this and everyone in the room looked at me.  I just can't believe it.  Although Alber is more than up to the task and exactly whom I would pick for the job.  Can't wait to see what happens!

New Obsession- MAC Ombre Blush in "Ripe Peach"

Here is the problem with obsession.  For me, it usually starts when something is no longer available.  Whether it be discontinued ice cream flavors, boys, or this blush, the items become so much more desirable and alluring when just out of my grasp.  By the time I even knew this blush existed, it was already sold out everywhere.  Grrrrrrr.
I am going to keep looking and maybe I can track it down on Ebay.  It's the perfect color I have been waiting for since last Spring.  I want to rock this color all over LA for the next year!

There are other colors in this collection but I only have eyes for Ripe Peach.
If you see this somewhere let me know!

New Shoes for Spring- Swedish Hasbeens

These are the Swedish Hasbeens I have had my beady little eyes on for over a year now (the thing that was standing between us was moneys.  hello tax return!).  This is the "super high peep toe" model.  I love that this is super high in their book!  I think these will be perfect for my new SoCal lifestyle, where the sun shines year round.  The only question now is- do I get yellow or green?
