What are you up to this weekend?
I am going to sleep in, work, and hopefully eat a grilled cheese sandwich, which I have been craving all day.
Bon Weekend!

Mags

Maggie Gyllenhall for Mui Mui 2004
I remember this ad campaign vividly.  My bestie Lauren and I were obsessed with the makeup and kept trolling the counters trying to find the same lipstick shade.  We finally found a Rimmel lip gloss that was similar and we rocked it all summer.  Not much has changed since then, Lauren and I still spend hours trying to find the perfect makeup colors when we get together!

I want to go to there

Of all the phrases that I have stolen from Liz Lemon over the last couple of years, "I want to go to there' is the one I use the most!

Prettiest Of The Pretty

Betty & Joan

Dazed & Confused

I must have watched Dazed & Confused about 50 times since it first came out, but only recently did I realize the true genius of the film.  I saw this pic and it instantly took me back to the Emporium, the pool hall & local hangout in the film.  Arcade games, the beautiful brunette, her blonde friend who carries a comb in her pocket, the weird kid with the 70's hair, it's all there!

How Many Lip Glosses Are In Your Handbag?

My fav glosses of the moment (left to right):

Dior Rouge Creme De Gloss "#875"
Jane "Champagne" Liquid Lip Color
Revlon "Coral Reef" Lipgloss
YSL Gloss Pur "8JBA3"

What are you up to this weekend?  I am going to consume some delicious Mexican food, perhaps take in a picture show, catch up with old friends, and obviously spend some up close and personal time with my lip gloss.
XOXO

Everyday

I use this face lotion every day.  It's moisturizing enough to keep dry skin at bay, but light enough to not make be break out.  I wish the SPF were stronger, but hey, it's not a perfect world.
Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15  $9.95

Greige Nail Polish

It's all the rage.

RGB "Haze" $14
Sephora "Metro Chic" $9
Sally Hansen "Commander In Chic" $7.50
CVS Confetti "Moonstruck" $2.00

These are all the same color (the perfect blend of grey, brown, & purple).  Pick your price point and go!

My New Shirt!

Stop the presses, I bought a new article of clothing!

I found this shirt during a recent "Girls Day", we were shopping at the mall & it caught my eye at Forever 21 & I was amazed that it fit (usually Always 12's clothes don't fit normal sized me) & it goes in at the waist which always makes you look smaller.  I thought it was really cute & looked more expensive than it was ($20) & it has that kind of ikat/new tye-dye/batik thing going on that all my fav bloggers are rocking these days but I was really going back and forth about the cost & the fact that I have nothing to wear with it, making the actual cost much more because I have to buy more clothes to make this work.  But I finally threw caution to the wind & I justified it by remembering that I haven't bought anything in MONTHS so who cares, & I could always bring it back & put the money towards a super ugly 70's bag I saw that I also want.  So there you go.  Now I have it in my clutches & I couldn't be happier!  I also spied a cute skirt at Cold Gravy that I think would look adorably perfect with it.  Here's to justifying purchases everywhere!

btw, for some reason I always have to call stores by their incorrect names: forever 21 is always 12 (becuz the clothes only fit 12 year olds) & old navy is cold gravy (cuz it rhymes).

Falling Behind

Lately I find myself neglecting the ol' blog here and it hurts my heart.  I think of posting often but rarely get around to it these days.  So I decided that I would try to post an image here everyday, ideally makeup or fashion related, but today it's a pic that I took out on the town the other night.  I think everyone will enjoy this new idea for awhile until I can get back to regular posting 'cuz everybody likes pictures (and free dance parties)!  It kills me to think of the days when I first started this blog and didn't even have accompanying pictures with my blog posts.  I didn't know much about the intraweb back then but things have gotten better since.  Enjoy!

Y'all are just like me and it makes me so happy!

For some reason, I always think I am alone in discussing the minutiae of what lipstick is perfect for the season, but I was wrong.  I recently posted a video from J. Crew with a model wearing the perfect lipstick for Summer 2010 on facebook and it inspired this heated discussion:

June 17 at 6:45pm Crystal: In case you wanted to know what the perfect lip color for summer 2010 is, here you go:

June 17 at 6:46pm Katie: Is your link to J Crew?

June 17 at 6:47pm Crystal: Yes. There is a video to watch on the home page and the model is wearing a great lip color!

June 17 at 6:52pm  Michele: crystal! you are so on! where can we find such color? can i get away with that?

June 17 at 6:56pm  Crystal: The closest thing I could find in my kit is Nars Casablanca, but it's still a lil bit too shiny.... will have to go to on a specific hunt and report back! And Michelle- you can def get away with it!

June 17 at 8:07pm  Lauren: so its an orangey coral bright?

June 17 at 8:17pm  Crystal: yes and matte.

June 17 at 8:19pm  Whitney: MAC vegas volt!

June 17 at 8:36pm  Crystal: yeah? i thought that was more pink, maybe I am thinking of the wrong color!

June 17 at 8:38pm  Whitney: you may be right... but on some people it turns kinda orangey.

June 17 at 8:46pm  Leah: nars velvet matte lip pencil in red square! i found a knock-off from revlon for $7.99. hot coral #712 - AMAZING. on everyone.

June 18 at 5:35pm Crystal: Thanks Leah, I will check it out!

What we all learned from the discussion is that the actual color was Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in "Red Square" and that Revlon "Hot Coral" is also great.  I bought it a few weeks ago and I love it too.  It's a bright pinky coral that does indeed, look good on everyone.  Bring on the debates!
